Monsaengdao Ecological School is an education centre integrating nature studies and agriculture for girls from ethnic minorities in northern Thailand. The school was established to provide education in a supportive and healing environment for girls at risk of human trafficking and other forms of abuse. Each year, up to 30 high school-aged girls receive free education and accommodation at the school.
The village of Wiang Klang Moo 11 is located near Moo 21 above. It is populated by nearly 1,000 people from nine different ethnic groups. The village water is supplied from three small dams that are nearby. The storage capacity for these dams is inadequate despite careful management by the village leaders and water has to be trucked in for three months during the dry season.
